Challenge
This unique multi-family duplex in Denver, CO was over 20 years old and was in need of a full exterior remodel. The property had water leaking in from both the roof and the siding. This resulted in very high energy cost for the tenants as well as cold wind drafts coming in. The wood in several areas was rotted and needed to be replaced. The roof needed several areas of new decking and updated ventilation.
Solution
After determining that the siding, roof, windows, and paint would all have to be replaced, we started work. After pulling the siding off we added a good Tyvek moisture barrier, which would prevent cold wind drafts from coming in. We also replaced all rotted wood and replaced the old siding with new Hardie Board Siding. The windows were replaced with energy efficient Milgard windows. We used synthetic underlayment and GAF class 4 shingles for the roof, Lomanco vents were installed for intake and ridge vents for exhaust. All of this work created much-needed insulation to the entire home. The many upgrades to the material made this duplex in Denver, CO really stands out.
